One year ago....we found our future
One year ago today we walked into the Journey Inn Bed & Breakfast and knew that this was the place. We had just started our search for our B&B - and believe it or not, the Journey Inn was the first place we saw. I remember saying that this was the place - and why, oh, why did it have to be the first place we saw. We spent the next several months traveling around visiting other places, searching online, talking to consultants and brokers - and nothing else was as perfect for us as the Journey Inn. As New Yorkers, it was much harder for us to leave the state we knew and loved than we thought. And we wanted to make sure that our first passion - food - was high on the list of what the area had to offer. Well we found great restaurants and so much more. We have been coming to the Hudson Valley for 30 years and living up here (on weekends) for 15 years - but even we didn't know how much the area had to offer. Great food, culture, history, architecture, outdoor activity, antiquing, horseback riding, swimming, hiking, and so much more. We are so happy that our guests never run out of things to do - and very often plan their trips to come back when they realize they didn't give themselves enough time. We still have a huge list of things we have not been able to experience yet - your vacations are our staycations - and we are just loving it!

Happy Independence Day
A happy Independence Day to everyone. This is our favorite holiday - not only is it summer, but it is a time for family and friends to gather for great food. The bounty of summer fruits and vegetables are among us and at their peak of flavor. And nothing is better than grilled meat, fish, vegetables - and chilled fruit. Don't forget the ice cream! But what I most love about this holiday is what we are celebrating - this great experiment that is America. Let us not forget how special this country is and how our founding fathers gave us and the world, democracy. Just so that we never forget, here is a link to that amazing document - our Declaration of Independence. We never get tired of reading it. http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/declaration_transcript.html
